High-efficiency biodiesel motorcycle

Participants: USM, Modenas, Yanmar
Status: Phase 1 Completed

Using Yanmar Diesel components (piston, pump, injector…) we are designing a high-efficiency engine for a commuter motorcycle. Phase 1, completed in Aug. 2007, consisted of demonstrating a Jaguh motorcycle with a student designed and built 175cc engine tuned to operate on biodiesel. In phase 2, currently underway, we are custom designing a two-stroke direct-injection diesel engine for a small displacement motorcycle. We are targeting >80 km/h top speed and >100 km per liter of biodiesel on a production ready machine by 2010.
